Aaaaargh!
Sometimes I amaze myself with my own stupidity. I accidentally killed my prosperity neighborhood, AGAIN (I had a few earlier attempts at challenges but they all died prematurely, sniff). I downloaded the new FT patch, but it wasn’t living up to my expectations. It actually caused a gypsy bug and increased my loading time so much that I decided to reinstall. Yes, I reinstalled FT but with no backup!!!! This is very, very, very STUPID! And what’s even worse is that this really isn’t the first time my laziness caused me to loose precious sims
Reinstalling any of your EP’s will kill all of your custom neighborhoods, your custom CAS sims and your entire downloads folder.
This all happened last night, while my boyfriend was enjoying himself with the European Soccer Championships. I had too amuse myself and decided to do some simming and then it all went wrong. Well thats Friday the 13th for you
(p.s. I’m really having an unlucky streak, I also burned myself this afternoon while making grilled cheese sandwiches) Anyway, now it’s the next day and I decided not to give up on sim challenges yet. This is actually another opportunity for me to do it even better than before. Yep, I’m somewhat of an optimist.
I’ve decided that if I would do another prosperity challenge I would try to start in the middle ages and end up somewhere in modern times. This gives me the following generation themes:
1. Medieval
2. Tudor
3. Rococo
4. Regency
5. Victorian
6. Modern
Pretty ambitious for someone who hasn’t even reached generation three with any of her challenges ever! But my mind is made up, I will continue with Aurora Valley. Same, same but different!
For the medieval themed Aurora Valley these are my downloads so far:
- N99 Forum’s Ridgton – I love this Neighborhood and I’ll use it again for my next Aurora Valley
- Phaenoh’s wagon rut roads – don’t these look awesome! Can’t wait to see these ingame
- Christianlov’s clothingrack – I will need this to get everyone an appropriate medieval styled look
My next objective is to make sure the townies will get a decent medieval name. I know there’s a MTS2 hack that already has medieval names, but I want to make my own! I’ll let you know when it’s ready! If anyone else is interested in making their own custom townie names, here’s the tutorial (see post#16).

Sorry to hear about that! I have Bath & Kitchen Stuff, which automatically patches, so I have the stupid gypsy bug, too! Very annoying.
Definitely quite the undertaking, trying to advance through time periods. I hope it works out!
edit: thanks! I really wanted to add a little something extra to prevent myself from comparing the new challenge with the old one. I always get a bit attached to my sims, but somehow I still manage to kill my game over and over again
At first I thought FT didn’t have any bugs at all, but after a while I discovered a few that are really annoying. Like the one where the nanny doesn’t recognize the crib that came with FT, or the one where it’s nearly impossible to get a badge. When BK stuff came out I thought it would be patched, but it actually made it even worse! And the new patch on their site turned out a disaster. It has a more aggressive form of SecuRom that besides making it a massive download, causes some serious problems with numerous legal users.

That sucks, I’m really sorry for you. I always forget to back up too and then I am SO ANGRY when everything goes wrong!
Sounds like you’d be advancing them pretty quickly through time (considering it took 500 years in our time), but hopefully it’ll keep it interesting for you! Good luck with it – it’s often hard to find regency as opposed to medieval clothes without dressing everyone the same.
edit: thanks! I’m still toying with the time advancing theme. I really love all the historical c.c. out there, all-about-style is one of my favorites. But I don’t want to be too ambitious with my challenge, because I don’t know how many generations I’ll actually play, maybe I’ll just stick with a medieval/tudor styled neighborhood at first

Ohh, I cant wait for this challenge! So sad that all the families died though :[ but I hope you have fun with this challenge!
edit: thanks! I’m already having so much fun downloading and making new sims, I can’t wait to start the challenge!

Oh no! You had some great stories going on there.
I’m sure the next ones will be just as good. I can’t wait to see what you come up with
edit: It’s been hard letting go of my precious sims, but hopefully my new families will be just as lively

That stinks! I never remember to back up either, stupid but maybe I like taking the risk lol
Your new plan is so ambitious and very cool and the rutted roads are awesome.
Fanciful Sims ( http://www.fancifulmind.com/sims/index.htm ) might have stuff you could use too
edit: thanks so much for that link! There are so much nice c.c sites out there it’s hard keeping track.
